Ingredients
4 cups cranberry juice (use unsweetened for better flavor control)
1 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed, if possible)
6–8 whole cloves
2–3 cinnamon sticks
1–2 whole star anise (optional, adds depth)
3–4 fresh ginger slices (thinly sliced)
2 tablespoons brown sugar or honey (adjust to taste)
Orange slices, for garnish
½ cup cranberries (fresh or frozen, optional garnish)
2 cups sparkling water or ginger ale (add just before serving)
Instructions
Simmer the punch:
In a large pot or saucepan, combine cranberry juice and orange juice. Add whole cloves, cinnamon sticks, star anise, and fresh ginger slices.Infuse the spices:
Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat. Let it simmer for 25 to 30 minutes, allowing the spices to infuse and the aroma to develop.Sweeten to taste:
While still hot, add brown sugar or honey. Stir well to dissolve completely. Taste and adjust sweetness based on your preference.Strain the punch:
Strain the punch through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove spices and ginger slices.Serve hot or cold:
For a chilled version, cool the punch to room temperature, then refrigerate. Just before serving, add sparkling water or ginger ale.
For a warm version, transfer to a slow cooker on “keep warm” and serve immediately.
