Description
Cooking frozen ground beef in an Instant Pot is a quick, hands-off method that ensures juicy, evenly cooked meat without drying it out. Perfect for meal prepping or when you forget to thaw meat, this method saves time and effort while maintaining great texture and flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 lb frozen ground beef
- 1 cup water
- 1 tsp salt (optional)
- ½ tsp black pepper (optional)
- ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
- ½ tsp onion powder (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Instant Pot: Pour 1 cup of water into the Instant Pot and place a metal trivet inside.
- Add the frozen beef: Place the frozen ground beef on top of the trivet. This keeps it elevated above the water to steam-cook evenly.
- Seal and cook: Close the lid, set the valve to “Sealing,” and select High Pressure for 20 minutes.
- Quick release: Once the timer ends, carefully perform a quick release by turning the valve to “Venting.”
- Break apart the meat: Open the lid and use a wooden spoon or spatula to break apart the meat. If the beef is still slightly pink, use the Sauté function for 5 minutes to finish cooking and remove excess moisture.
- Season and use: Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder for flavor. Stir well and use the ground beef in tacos, pasta, casseroles, or any favorite dish!
Notes
- For leaner beef: Use 90% lean ground beef to reduce excess fat.
- For extra flavor: Sauté onions and garlic before pressure cooking.
- Storing leftovers: Store in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
