This quick and easy recipe offers multiple cooking options—fry for maximum crispiness, bake for a lighter version, or air-fry for a healthier alternative. Pair them with your favorite dipping sauces for an unforgettable treat!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 2 tbsp fresh ginger, finely grated
  • 1 tbsp garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1 egg, whisked
  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • Cooking oil, as needed (for frying, use vegetable or canola oil)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Chicken:
    • In a large bowl, mix chicken, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, honey, salt, and pepper.
    • Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes (or up to 1 hour for deeper flavor).
  2. Prepare the Coating:
    • In a shallow bowl, whisk the egg.
    • In another dish, mix cornstarch, panko breadcrumbs, and a pinch of salt & pepper.
    • Dip each marinated chicken piece into the egg, then dredge in the cornstarch-panko mixture, pressing lightly to coat.
    • (Optional: Double-coat for extra crispiness.)
  3. Cooking Methods:

    Deep-Frying (Crispiest Option):

    • Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep pan.
    • Fry chicken in batches for 4-5 minutes, turning occasionally.
    • Drain on a wire rack.

    Shallow-Frying (Less Oil, Still Crispy!):

    • Heat ½ inch of oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
    • Cook chicken in batches for 4 minutes per side.
    • Drain on a wire rack.

    Oven-Baking (Healthier Option):

    • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
    • Place coated chicken on a greased baking sheet, spray lightly with oil.
    • Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway.

    Air-Frying (Quick & Healthy):

    • Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
    • Arrange chicken in a single layer.
    • Spray lightly with oil and air fry for 12-14 minutes, shaking halfway.
  4. Serve & Enjoy:
    • Garnish with sesame seeds or green onions.
    • Serve with dipping sauces like sweet chili, soy-ginger, or spicy mayo.

Notes

  • For Extra Crispiness: Double-coat the chicken in breadcrumbs.
  • For a Spicy Kick: Add ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper to the coating mix.
  • For a Honey-Garlic Glaze: Toss cooked bites in a mix of honey, garlic, and soy sauce before serving.
  • Storage & Reheating:
    • Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days.
    • Reheat in an air fryer (375°F for 5-7 minutes) or oven (350°F for 10 minutes).
    • Avoid microwaving to maintain crispiness.
